Ask Dr. Stanfield: Is it okay to use flossers and/or flossing tools? What kind of dental floss should I use?
The brand of floss is not as important as the act of flossing. Generally speaking, though, a simple unwaxed floss like POH brand is better. Glide brand floss is a lightly waxed floss that’s good if your teeth are tightly spaced. There is also a shred-resistant floss manufactured under the Glide name that’s also good for closely spaced teeth. I think flossers – small pre-strung dental floss holders – are great tools for folks who have a hard time flossing in the traditional way.
Anything that will get you to floss regularly is a good tool to use as long as it’s safe and recommended by your dentist.
